Navan O’Mahony’s 2-06
St Peter’s Dunboyne 4-08
Navan O’Mahony’s fell at the penultimate hurdle of the SFC away to St Peter’s Dunboyne on Saturday evening, the first time the club has reached this stage of the competition.
The hosts got off to a great start, scoring a goal and two points within the opening five minutes. Five minutes later, they extended the lead to six points with another point from play. During this time, O’Mahony’s created a number of good scoring opportunities but were unable to convert these to the scoreboard and were left chasing the game from the early stages.
Dunboyne added a point from play before Megan Collins got Navan O’Mahony’s first score of the game in the fourteenth minute. Dunboyne responded straight away and Collins added a second in the eighteenth minute.
A free from Denise McGrath reduced the deficit but was nullified when Dunboyne found the net at the opposite end of the pitch. Another McGrath free saw out the scoring for the half and the home side went in with the advantage.
