Navan O’Mahony’s Peil for All team had their end of year match in a crowded Paddy O’Brien Park on Sunday 22nd September.
It was a group of mixed teams, including all the Peil for All players as well as other club players including former All-Star Stephen Bray! The skills the players learned all year were on show, with many spectators commenting on the high standard of football.
With a goal separating the sides at half time, the Blue and White team held the lead. The Salles Colours ran out strong in the second half and the scoreboard was a draw when referee Jenny Rispin blew the full-time whistle.
After the presentation, Meath legend Trevor Giles presented the medals in the clubhouse, where the players enjoyed food, drinks and a catch up!
The club would like to put on the record its appreciation to Kate O’Neill, the founder and driving force behind the Peil for All Initiative in Navan O’Mahony’s, without who such a wonderful event wouldn’t be possible.
At the presentation, Kate spoke a few words and paid tribute to every player individually before Trevor Giles presented the medals. Kate expressed her gratitude to Trevor, for making an effort to be there on such a busy weekend of football. She also thanks Declan O’Reilly, the Navan O’Mahony’s social committee and the Executive Committee for all their support for Peil for All.
The Ladies section of the Club provided the medals for the players. Thanks also to Parc Rí for the treats for after the presentation. Kate also thanked the other coaches (Kelly, Ronan, Aaron, , Paul Colin & Emmett), the parents, support staff and carers who bring the players to training and everyone who made the night and the initiative in general possible.
On behalf of the players, John Blake made a presentation to Kate O’Neill and her fiancé Ronan, another of the coaches, ahead of their upcoming wedding!
The players will be taking a well-earned break over the winter but training will resume in 2025. Contact Navan O’Mahony’s social media pages or website for more information.
