Navan O Mahony’s camogie added more silverware to their tally when they claimed the Junior B title and brought home a second cup for adult camogie just a week after claiming the Intermediate title against Dunboyne.
The game was played in Dunganny against Wolf Tones, on a crisp Autumn day with huge support out for both teams. Aoibhin Kielty opened the scoring with a well taken free. A point from Sarah Corcoran opened her tally before Kielty also pointed from play
The forwards put a lot of pressure on the Wolf Tones defence in the first half and were denied a few opportunities, but the frees kept the scoreboard ticking over, well converted by Kielty. A well taken point from play by Anna Gardiner brought the total to 0.6. It was Wolf Tones though who claimed the last 2 scores of the half, both from frees leaving it 0.6 to 0.2 at the break.
Zoe Shakespeare and Anna Gardiner worked tirelessly in midfield throughout the game and were well supported from the half back line which included Milly Murray, Ellen Farrell (Captain) and Dayna Keogh who picked up the “Player of the match” award
Corcoran opened the scoring in the second half with a well taken point before claiming the first goal of the game shortly afterwards. This was followed swiftly by a Mia Mc Nally goal. Corcoran added another point bringing her total for the day to 1.3. Grace Gardiner got her name on the scoreboard with a point and Kielty added another from a free. Mc Nally who had a very positive impact on the game when she came on at half time added 1.1 in succession. Kielty converted another free and the last score of the game was a point from Mc Nally which brought her total for the day to 2.2.
